Hi Ranga,
Many many congrats for landing up the job you like...and for writing the blog and enlightening us about the placement process at ISB. Well I am joining ISB CO2009..Could you shed some light on the type of profiles that were offered or taken by ppl from IT background?

Rangarajan said...

Hi Anonymous (IT Profile),
I will be blunt here..

Most of the IT people had joined ISB aiming for a career shift. But it doesn't happen for everyone.

The best bet is shifting to consulting. But if you are aiming for one of the top consulting firms, your grades are damn important (irespective of what others lead you to beleive). But since its all about relative grading at ISB.. only a few get this chance.

IT to Finance is the toughest. Nevertheless some people have achieved this change. You really need to work hard throughout the year if you are aiming for this..

So that takes us back to your original question. Where do IT people go? Well yes.. they generally go back to where they came from.. (Bhagavat Gita style..)
